Czech Republic infrastructure and heritage restoration projects underway

Various reconstruction projects are underway in the Czech Republic to modernize infrastructure and preserve cultural heritage.

In Hradec Králové, the reconstruction of the pedestrian underpass on Karl IV Avenue is proceeding according to schedule. The project, costing 34 million CZK excluding VAT, aims to transform the space into a more vibrant area featuring shops, art exhibitions, and community activities. Due to upcoming stages such as gypsum construction and floor concreting, the underpass will be fully closed to pedestrians from August 17 to August 23, and again from September 14 to September 30. Pedestrians are advised to use Střelecká Street during these periods. The city has applied for a subsidy of 11.2 million CZK to cover nearly one-third of the costs.

In Teplice, restoration work is being conducted on the roof of the St. Elizabeth Church in Šanov. The project is estimated to cost approximately 4.5 million CZK and is expected to take about three and a half months. Craftsmen are replacing the original purple slate with new materials to ensure the historical monument's protection for future generations. The Roman Catholic Parish of Teplice-Šanov has established a transparent bank account and a public collection to support the repairs.
