Czech Republic launches household spending survey with financial incentives
The Czech government is conducting a specialized survey to track detailed household expenditures across the country. Officials are visiting approximately 3,000 selected households to collect data on spending habits regarding food, transport, culture, and various services.
Participants are provided with two specialized diaries and pouches to collect all receipts and tickets over an eight-week period. To ensure statistical accuracy, participants are selected by officials based on specific criteria to reflect the actual population composition. Participation is entirely voluntary.
Upon completion and submission of the filled diaries, participants receive a reward consisting of ten gift vouchers with a total value of 3,000 CZK. The state is utilizing this granular data to understand how citizens manage their budgets and where they are cutting costs due to rising living expenses.
