Czech Republic motorcycle accidents increase over decade

Data from the Police of the Czech Republic indicates a significant rise in motorcycle-related accidents over the last decade. The number of accidents involving motorcyclists has increased by approximately 20%, with 2024 recording 3,861 incidents.

Of these accidents, 59.5% were caused by the motorcyclist, rising from 1,796 in 2016 to 2,264 last year. In 63.8% of fatal accidents, excessive speed was identified as the primary factor. Experts note that younger riders, specifically those under 25, are the most frequent contributors to these statistics, often due to a combination of high-performance modern motorcycles and a lack of experience.

Most accidents occur on local roads (34.7%), followed by second-class (25.6%) and third-class (19.2%) roads.
