Czech Republic mushroom season brings harvests and search operations

Mushroom picking season is currently active across the Czech Republic, leading to both successful harvests and safety concerns. In the Havlíčkův Brod region, foragers are reporting abundant finds, including boletes, porcini, and various other species, particularly in mixed forests with mossy ground.

However, the season has prompted several police interventions. In the Hodonín region, authorities searched for three foragers in a single week. One incident involved a hearing-impaired senior who triggered a search after failing to return home. His family became concerned when he did not answer his phone, but the man eventually returned to his vehicle on his own, explaining that he had not heard the calls due to his hearing impairment and the quiet forest environment.

Another search in the same region required a helicopter equipped with thermal imaging to locate a lost forager whose phone battery had died.
