Czech Republic plans to increase migrant quotas to address labor shortages
The Czech government is preparing to increase quotas for economic migrants to combat long-term labor shortages that threaten key sectors of the national economy. Major industries, including manufacturing, logistics, and construction, are facing significant deficits in personnel.
To address this, the state plans to expand the Qualified Employee Program. Specifically, the annual quota for workers from the Philippines is expected to rise from 10,300 to 12,000 starting in January 2027. There are also indications that quotas for workers from India may be increased.
Large industrial companies, such as Foxconn and Novanta, already rely heavily on foreign labor to maintain production efficiency. The construction sector is also noted as being highly dependent on foreign workers to prevent potential collapse due to a lack of manual and technical professionals.
