Czech Republic political activity rises ahead of 2026 elections

Political activity is increasing in the Czech Republic ahead of the municipal and senate elections scheduled for October 2026. In Prague, the ANO movement has launched its campaign with the slogan ‘Česko bude zase makat’ (Czechia will work again). The Prague-specific campaign, ‘Praha bude zase makat’, focuses on investments in transport, housing, security, and sports. Candidate Hušbauer emphasized the need for urban ring road completion and parking infrastructure, while criticizing current city leadership for perceived neglect.

In Kolín, election commission positions for the upcoming votes are already fully staffed. Despite an increase in remuneration for commission members—particularly when municipal and senate elections coincide—local officials noted a decline in interest. One reason cited for the lower interest is the requirement for members to work two consecutive weekends to accommodate potential second rounds of senate voting.
