Czech Republic prepares for high-intensity conflict in new defense strategy

The Czech Republic is preparing for potential high-intensity, long-term military conflicts through a new strategic document titled ‘Long-term Defense Outlook 2045’. The Ministry of Defence's report warns of an increasing probability of complex security crises, including possible unannounced attacks on NATO and European Union member states.

Russia is identified as the most significant threat to the country's security. The document notes that threats may extend beyond conventional warfare to include cyberattacks, disinformation campaigns, economic pressure, and sabotage.

As responsibility for Europe's conventional defense shifts from the United States to European allies, the Czech Republic plans to significantly expand its military capabilities. Key objectives include acquiring 24 F-35 fighter jets, modernizing two brigades, and enhancing space reconnaissance. The strategy also outlines plans to develop a civilian security preparedness system by 2030 and increase procurement of military technology and equipment through 2038.
