Czech Republic Rejects Joining New European Defense Projects

Czech Republic is not part of a nine‑state coalition formed in Paris to develop a European anti‑ballistic shield, although Czech arms firms say they could contribute components such as radars, command systems and rocket parts. The coalition aims to create a new interceptor system against ballistic missiles, a capability the Czech military currently lacks.

At the same time, the Czech Ministry of Finance announced that the country will not join the Defence, Security and Resilience Bank (DSRB), a multilateral institution proposed by Canada to provide cheaper financing for defence projects. Officials cited high entry costs and unclear economic benefits, noting that the Czech Republic can use existing EU tools such as the European Investment Bank and the SAFE programme instead.
