Czech Republic roadworks trigger major traffic restrictions and detours

Significant road construction and modernization projects are set to impact traffic in several Czech regions.

In Vlašim, road closures are ongoing and expanding. The road between Bruk and Nesperská Lhota is closed for repairs until October 18, requiring detours via Domašín and Vlašim. Additionally, starting September 8, traffic will be partially restricted on Jiráskova and Trocnovská streets until December 11 due to water line renewals and low-voltage cable installation. Sidewalk closures are also expected on Československé armády street.

Separately, a major three-year modernization project is beginning on the I/53 highway between Pohořelice and Lechovice. Starting September 18, the nearly 20-kilometer stretch will undergo a multi-stage renovation costing approximately two billion CZK (excluding VAT). The project aims to improve safety and traffic flow through new interchanges and turning lanes. Drivers should expect significant detours, particularly in the Drnholce area, with certain stages affecting heavy transport and passenger vehicles through 2027.
