Czech Republic sees multiple traffic fatalities in June

In June 2026, Prague recorded two traffic deaths. A cyclist was killed on June 4 after colliding with a bus in Krč, and a senior died on June 26 when struck by a car in Kamýk. The city's police reported 1,074 accidents that month, 17 severe injuries and 202 minor injuries, with total damages of CZK 148.96 million. The most common causes were failure to adapt speed to conditions and not giving right‑of‑way.

The neighboring Pardubice region also saw four fatalities in June, including two motorcyclists. In Svitavska, two people died among 67 accidents; elsewhere in the region 144 accidents were logged. Overall, the region experienced 342 crashes, six severe injuries and 71 light injuries, with damages of CZK 25.55 million. The leading factors matched those in Prague – inappropriate speed and failure to yield.

Since the start of the year, traffic incidents have claimed three lives in Prague and eleven across the Pardubice region, highlighting ongoing road‑safety concerns.
