Czech Republic to be guest of honor at Frankfurt Book Fair 2026

The Czech Republic has been selected as the guest of honor for the Frankfurt Book Fair in October 2026. Under the theme ‘Czechia: A Country on the Coast’—a reference to William Shakespeare’s ‘The Winter’s Tale’—the nation will occupy a 2,300 m² pavilion designed by the architectural studio JinJan. The exhibition aims to showcase modern Czech literature through a blend of traditional readings and modern technology, including generative AI and real-time robotic comic drawing.

In domestic literary news, the ‘Souboj čtenářů’ (Battle of Readers) competition concluded its final round at the Svět knihy Praha 2026 festival. The newcomers from Gymnázium Velké Pavlovice emerged as the winners among the five finalist teams. The competition tested students' reading comprehension, critical thinking, and teamwork skills using various contemporary literary titles.
