Europe weather shifts as heatwaves and cold fronts collide

Central and Southern Europe are experiencing extreme weather volatility. A significant temperature contrast is emerging as a heatwave from North Africa impacts Southern Europe, with temperatures in Spain, France, Italy, and the Balkans potentially reaching 35 to 40 degrees Celsius.

In Central Europe, including the Czech Republic and Slovakia, the weather is shifting from tropical summer conditions to autumn-like patterns. While Friday is expected to bring peak temperatures—reaching up to 31 degrees Celsius in parts of Moravia—a cold front will move through over the weekend. This transition will bring rain, showers, and potential thunderstorms to much of the Czech Republic, followed by a sharp drop in temperatures.

In Slovakia, the Prešov region faces wind warnings with gusts potentially reaching 110 to 135 km/h in mountainous areas, while the country transitions from summer heat to cooler, rainier weather by Sunday.
