Central Europe weather shift brings storms and wind warnings

A significant weather shift is affecting Central Europe, bringing a cold front, heavy rain, and strong winds to the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

In the Czech Republic, meteorologists have issued warnings for strong winds, with gusts potentially reaching 55 to 70 km/h, particularly in the northwest and northern regions including Ústí, Liberec, and Hradec Králové. The transition of the cold front may also trigger thunderstorms and heavy rainfall. While temperatures initially reached summer levels, a sharp cooling is expected following the front's passage.

In Slovakia, a similar pattern is emerging as a cold front moves southeast. Temperatures are expected to drop significantly, with daytime maximums falling to between 23°C and 28°C, and even lower in the Žilina region and upper Spiš. High-altitude areas face risks of wind gusts reaching gale force, prompting first-level warnings for several districts including Tvrdošín, Liptovský Mikuláš, Ružomberok, Banská Bystrica, Brezno, and Poprad.
