Friends Fest brings American culture to Pardubice
The multi‑genre Friends Fest opened on Saturday, 8 August at the Pardubice racecourse, celebrating American culture and the centenary of Route 66. The festival features historic and modern American cars and motorcycles, a freestyle motocross show, military displays, a drag‑ster from 1972, concerts by David Koller, Marpo and Tublatanka, a children’s zone and an American‑style food court. A family‑friendly competition lets visitors collect stamps along a Route 66‑themed trail.
Other weekend events across the Czech Republic include the Czech Tourist Trophy motorcycle race in Hořice, where police have prepared extra traffic measures, and a wide range of local festivals: a medieval battle reenactment at Budyně nad Ohří, a honey‑themed market in Kadaň, a rock concert in Loket, a historic vehicle gathering in Komařice, and numerous cultural programmes in towns such as Bruntál, Krnov, Olomouc and Karlovy Vary. These activities offer concerts, workshops, markets, sport competitions and family entertainment throughout the weekend.
