Czech retailers maintain promotional flyer strategies to drive sales

Retail chains in the Czech Republic continue to rely heavily on promotional flyers to drive customer engagement and sales. Despite predictions of their decline, the number of products offered in promotional campaigns rose by 17.2 percent year-on-year in 2024. While Albert promotes the highest volume of items, Lidl promotes the fewest.

Consumer behavior shows a strong connection to these offers, with two-thirds of Czechs seeking information via printed flyers. Many shoppers use these materials to build shopping lists, a habit reinforced by recent economic pressures. Retailers are increasingly integrating these traditional methods with digital tools, such as mobile apps and WhatsApp, to reach customers.

Some chains are adjusting their strategies to match consumer rhythms. For instance, Penny shifted its main promotional cycle to start on Wednesdays to capitalize on high demand. Additionally, retailers like Globus are expanding distribution by sending promotional content through messaging platforms.
