Czech runners prepare for Běchovice national championships
Czech long-distance runners are preparing for the upcoming Běchovice race in Prague, which also serves as the national 10-kilometer championship. Tereza Hrochová enters as a top favorite for the women's title. She holds the record for the fastest Czech woman on this course with a time of 33:10 set in 2024 and is returning to the event after a one-year hiatus. Hrochová has demonstrated strong form recently, including a ninth-place finish in the marathon at the European Championships in Birmingham and a recent half-marathon victory in Ústí nad Labem.
Other notable competitors in the women's field include defending champion Bára Stýblová, former winner Simona Vrzalová, and Michaela Čepová, who has shown significant consistency this year. In the men's category, Damián Vích is considered the primary candidate for the title during his Běchovice debut, despite the absence of former record holder Martin Zajíc.
Recent athletic results from the region also include Tereza Hrochová's first-place finish in the Ústí nad Labem half-marathon and various placements in international competitions across disciplines such as MotoGP, tennis, and shooting.
