Czech Senate awards silver medals to prominent personalities

The President of the Czech Senate, Miloš Vystrčil, awarded silver commemorative medals to 17 personalities on St. Wenceslas Day. The honors are presented to individuals who have excelled in their fields or contributed to the reputation of the Czech Republic abroad.

Among the recipients were economist Jan Švejnar and NHL hockey players David Pastrňák and Jakub Voráček. The hockey players were recognized for their support of the Jakub Voráček Foundation, which aids people with multiple sclerosis through donations linked to their NHL performance.

Other honorees included human rights defender Elena Gorolová, rescuer Petra Homolová, and journalists Darja Stomatová and Ján Schürger for their reporting on the war in Ukraine. Kamila Bendová and the late Václav Benda were also recognized for their struggle for freedom and civic responsibility.
