Czech Senate race: ANO and SPD field candidates, Motoristé skip contest

Government coalition talks over a joint Senate ticket collapsed, leaving the two coalition parties ANO 2011 and Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD) to run their own candidates in the upcoming Senate election. The Motoristé party announced it will not put forward any Senate candidates, focusing instead on municipal elections in Prague, Brno and Ostrava.

The first round of Senate voting is scheduled for 9‑10 October, coinciding with the municipal polls. Candidate lists must be submitted by early August. Motoristé leaders, including minister Boris Šťastný, said the party will concentrate on mayoral races, naming Klára Sovová for Prague, Matěj Gregor for Ostrava and Tomáš Kratochvíl for Brno.
