Czech singer Daniel Žižka set to represent country at Eurovision 2026

Daniel Žižka, a Prague‑born singer and actor, has been chosen by Czech Television to represent the Czech Republic at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna. He will perform the ambient indie‑pop ballad "Crossroads", a song he co‑wrote about life’s decision points and following one’s intuition.

The semi‑finals take place on Thursday, with the grand final scheduled for 16 May. Žižka’s entry was selected from hundreds of submissions and aims to stand out through vocal performance rather than elaborate staging. Eurovision this year is drawing millions of viewers across Europe and features heightened security amid ongoing geopolitical tensions, including boycotts of Israel and the prior exclusion of Russia.

Czech participation in the contest dates back to 2007, achieving its best result in 2018 with a sixth‑place finish. Žižka’s appearance marks the latest effort to improve the country’s standing in the competition.
