Czech sports awards honor journalism legends and Patrik Schick

The Club of Sports Journalists held its annual awards ceremonies, honoring both journalistic legends and top athletic performers. During the third Ondrej Sekora Awards at the Sportfilm festival, journalists Prchal, Ota Pavel, and Milan Macho were posthumously recognized as legends. The awards, which included categories for books, articles, television, and audio, saw Lukáš Tomek and Zdeněk Janda win Best Book for ‘Já68’, while Markéta Plšková won the category for journalists under 30.

In the 30th edition of the Zlatý míč (Golden Ball) poll, Patrik Schick was named the winner. In a unique mathematical outcome, Schick secured the title despite not winning either the autumn or spring individual voting segments. He finished with 771 points, surpassing Pavel Šulc and Ladislav Krejčí through consistent high scoring across the entire year. Schick attributed his success to maintaining performance stability, noting his contributions in the Bundesliga and with the national team.
