Czech sports update: Zlín hockey and Viktoria Plzeň football face early season struggles

In Czech sports, both hockey club Zlín and football club Viktoria Plzeň are facing challenging starts to their respective seasons.

Zlín is struggling in the second-tier hockey league, currently sitting at the bottom of the standings after nine rounds. Despite a strong finish last season where they reached the finals, the team has suffered from poor defensive play and inconsistent performance. Coach Peter Oremus and veteran Bedřich Köhler have noted concerns regarding the team's current form and individual player contributions.

Viktoria Plzeň's football team currently holds tenth place in the league after nine rounds. Analysis of the squad shows a heavy reliance on a core group of players, specifically highlighting Merchas Doski and Amar Memič as among the most utilized players in terms of minutes played during the 2026/27 season.
