Czech Supreme Administrative Court Confirms Multi‑Million‑Krona Fines

The Czech Supreme Administrative Court (NSS) upheld a fine of 5.2 million CZK imposed by the Competition Authority (ÚOHS) on the Association of Language Schools for setting minimum prices for language instruction in public procurement, deeming the sanction justified and comparable to cartel behaviour.

The court also confirmed a reduced fine of 1.5 million CZK on the Veterinary University of Brno for allowing mouflons to exceed the nine‑hectare area permitted under a special exemption, an over‑population that damaged the protected Poodří forest ecosystem. The original 2 million CZK penalty imposed by the Environmental Inspection (ČIŽP) was lowered by the Ministry of Environment, but the NSS rejected the university’s appeal.
