Czech Television releases inclusive Czech Sign Language Christmas fairy tale “The Last Fairy”

Czech Television is preparing its eleventh Christmas fairy‑tale produced in Czech sign language, titled Poslední sudička (The Last Fairy). Directed by Pavel Jandourek, the film was shot in the Kavčí hory studios and the Průhonice park area. It combines original signing by the actors for deaf viewers with a dubbed audio track for hearing audiences, creating a fully inclusive format.

Creative producer Luděk Horký noted that Czech sign‑language fairy‑tales are a worldwide rarity, emphasizing that the characters sign directly within the story rather than being merely interpreted. The plot follows the fairy godmother Mořenka, who foresees a small prince Vincent threatened by a monster, prompting her to question her purpose. The production will be broadcast as part of Česká televize’s Christmas programme, offering both deaf and hearing children a shared viewing experience.
