Czech Television to broadcast classic films and director documentary

Czech Television is scheduled to broadcast significant works of Czechoslovak cinema. The broadcaster will air Vojtěch Jasný’s 1968 film ‘All My Good Countrymen’ (Všichni dobří rodáci), a classic that was previously banned by the communist regime. Despite receiving international acclaim and awards at the Cannes Film Festival, the film was placed in the ‘vault’ due to its depiction of the impact of the 1948 political shifts on rural life.

Additionally, a new documentary titled ‘Bočan’ will premiere on ČT art on September 2, 2026. Directed by Petr Smělík, the film provides an intimate portrait of Hynek Bočan, a prominent director of the Czechoslovak New Wave. The documentary utilizes personal diaries, new interviews, and archival materials to trace Bočan’s career, which includes notable works such as ‘S čerty nejsou žerty’ and various television series produced between 1964 and 2014.
