Czech Television to co-produce series on Ján Kuciak murder

Czech Television will co-produce and broadcast a six-part miniseries titled ‘Naši lidé’ (Our People) in spring 2025. Directed by Slovak filmmaker Tereza Nvotová, the series explores the 2018 murders of investigative journalist Ján Kuciak and his fiancée, Martina Kušnírová.

The production aims to examine the broader context of the crime, including the networks of clientelism, corruption, and the links between organized crime and political structures in Slovakia. The title refers to the term used in Slovakia to describe close-knit networks of individuals connected to political representation.

Producers noted that the project required Czech co-production because no Slovak broadcaster was willing to take on the subject matter. The creators emphasized that the series is about the power of truth and the role of public media in telling stories that are difficult but necessary for society to confront.
