Česká televize to cut regional production due to budget constraints

Česká televize is implementing significant budget cuts to address a 350 million CZK deficit required for 2027. As part of these savings, the public broadcaster plans to cease filming in the regional studios of Brno and Ostrava.

Several programs are expected to be discontinued or reduced, including ‘Na stopě’, ‘Galerie Selfie’, ‘Draky v hrnci’, and ‘Šikulové’. Additionally, the frequency of regional programs such as ‘Z kraje’ and ‘Newsroom’ will be reduced to once per month. The decision to cut regional production has drawn criticism from former CEO Jan Souček, who argued against prioritizing savings in Brno and Ostrava.
