Czech Television unveils holiday and year-end programming

Czech Television (Česká televize) has announced its holiday and year-end broadcast schedule, featuring a mix of new premieres, traditional classics, and musical events. A major highlight for Christmas Eve is the premiere of the fairy tale ‘Krakonoš a básník’, a sequel to ‘Krakonošovo tajemství’ starring David Švehlík.

The festive lineup includes the return of the cult classic ‘Tři oříšky pro Popelku’ and various other popular titles such as ‘Anděl Páně’ and ‘Nesmrtelná teta’. The Advent season will be marked by the 36th annual Advent Concerts held at several historic locations, including Břevnov Monastery and Kutná Hora, though the program will proceed without the late Jan Potměšil.

Other notable programming includes the two-part drama ‘Anežka’, focusing on the life of Saint Agnes of Bohemia, and various musical performances by artists such as Jitka Zelenková and Monika Absolonová. The year-end schedule also features sports coverage of skiing and biathlon, as well as New Year's Eve entertainment and year-in-review specials.
