Czech theater scene sees Lenka Schreiberová interview and Shakespeare festival opening

Actress Lenka Schreiberová, a prominent member of the Horácké divadlo Jihlava, spoke about her varied roles, improvisation and audience interaction. She mentioned celebrating her 50th birthday with a Formula 1 experience and highlighted her favourite performances, including the comedy "Jak utopit dr. Mráčka".

The same week, the Summer Shakespeare Festival in Prague opened with Vojtěch Štěpánek’s production of "Comedy of Errors", marking the 18th season of the long‑running staging of Jiří Menzel’s "Veselé paničky". Actors Bolek Polívka and Simona Stašová praised the ensemble’s camaraderie, with Stašová noting, “People come to the Veselé paničky not only for Shakespeare but for the energy, fun and friendship on stage.” The festival will run through early September, featuring a mix of classic and new Shakespearean works.

Both events underscore a vibrant period for Czech theatre, combining veteran talent with new productions that draw audiences nationwide.
