Czech Tourism Industry Shifts Focus to Climate Resilience

A new OECD study titled *Tourism Trends and Policies 2026* warns that tourism destinations must increasingly invest in climate resilience. Beyond traditional priorities such as marketing and infrastructure, destinations are urged to prepare for repeated extreme heat, wildfires, heavy rain, floods and landslides. The report recommends crisis‑scenario planning, modern early‑warning systems, stronger rescue capacities, transport adjustments and evacuation plans for visitors.

Investments are expected to move from new hotels and attractions toward fire‑prevention measures, flood defenses, slope stabilization and upgraded transport infrastructure. Digital technologies that monitor weather, fire risk and traffic in real time are highlighted as essential tools for proactive management.
