Czech towns advance local infrastructure repairs

The city of Karlovy Vary has revised the reconstruction plan for the Cheb Bridge to lower costs. By removing the expensive ultra‑high‑performance concrete and narrowing the bridge slightly, the projected budget has been reduced to about 350 million CZK. Land swaps with private owners have been completed, and a temporary pedestrian bridge will be built while work proceeds. The city expects to obtain construction permits by the end of 2027, after the ongoing renovation of the Prague Bridge is finished, and will award the design and construction contracts through a separate public tender.

In Jihlava, the municipal authorities finished restoring the historic Na Skalce spring fountain, a popular recreational site. The renovation, costing 150 000 CZK, restored the façade and roof using modern, durable materials while preserving the original appearance of the 1926 structure. The work, carried out by a local contractor, ensures the spring’s continued operation as a non‑potable water source for the community.
