Czech towns convert school sites into new educational and sports facilities

A former farm in the northern district of Prague is slated to become a secondary school (gymnázium) with capacity for 500 pupils. The project forms part of a municipal effort to expand educational infrastructure in the capital region.

In the South Moravian town of Dubňany, the area surrounding a primary school is being transformed into a multi‑purpose sports and recreation centre. The first phase, expected to be completed by March 2025, will include a new playing field, a pergola, a pump‑track and seating areas. A public tender for a skate‑park is planned for June, with the full complex aimed for completion by the end of 2025. The redevelopment is funded with roughly 21 million CZK, with additional funding sought for a synthetic‑surface football pitch.

Both projects illustrate local Czech authorities’ focus on modernising school‑related facilities to serve broader community needs.
