Czech towns host historic reenactment and glass festivals drawing thousands of visitors
The historic centre of Český Krumlov welcomed hundreds of participants and spectators for the 38th edition of the Five‑Leaf Rose Festival. Costumed sword‑fighters, musicians and dancers recreated the atmosphere of 1586, celebrating the 20th birthday of Jan Zrinský. Despite temperatures above 30 °C and occasional storms, the three‑day event featured parades, knightly duels, concerts of period music and craft markets.
In the town of Nový Bor, the annual Glass Festival attracted hundreds of visitors to explore glass‑making workshops, an open‑door day at local factories and the international “Bonjour Glass” project featuring French artists. The programme also included theatre, circus‑style performances, music from various European groups and a fire‑based “Propane Punk Show”. Both festivals highlighted the region’s cultural heritage and boosted local tourism.
