Czech towns host record‑breaking and inaugural Guláš festivals

The Guláš Fest in Zbýšov attracted a record 400 judges and about 900 visitors, with twelve teams preparing roughly 400 tasting portions each. The event, opened by mayor Viktor Husák, highlighted the festival’s growth since its inception five years ago.

In nearby Zářeč, the first Guláš Fest organized by Jozef Blahušiak featured five local teams, including a group from Bežerovice. A randomly selected public jury chose the winning pork‑goulash prepared by Pavel Burian and Adam Rakovan. The competition ran from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. beside the Lužnice River.
