Czech towns Otrokovice and Jihlava begin major playground renovations

The town of Otrokovice will rebuild its heavily used playground near the local polyclinic. Construction starts on 15 July and is scheduled to finish by the end of August, with a budget of roughly 7.7 million CZK. The new play area will be divided into age‑specific zones and feature a large aircraft‑shaped structure with a tower and slide, trampolines, a balance trail, a sandbox with a digger, a rope‑way, and updated safety surfacing, seating and landscaping.

In Jihlava, the Český mlýn playground has been refreshed after about a decade. The redesign, inspired by the film *Rozmarné léto* and the site’s former 1920s swimming pool, adds reed thickets, sand‑filled “fish” areas, talk‑tube “whisper‑boxes”, a lifeguard megaphone, a maze, and new stainless‑steel slides with shade. The project also introduces a dry‑run water‑capture channel and a adjacent workout zone, improving rain‑water management and providing space for cultural events.

Both projects aim to offer safer, more modern facilities for children and families while preserving existing green elements.
