Czech Transport Minister leads business mission to Central Asia
Czech Transport Minister Ivan Bednárik is leading an economic diplomacy mission to Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan from October 11 to 16, 2026. The mission, organized in cooperation with the Czech Association of Industry and Transport, aims to support Czech companies in securing new business opportunities within the transport, logistics, and technology sectors.
Key areas of focus include railway and freight transport, urban and smart mobility, and aviation. In Azerbaijan, specific opportunities exist regarding the modernization of the Baku Metro and the development of railway infrastructure. The Czech railway industry, represented by associations such as ACRI, seeks to provide technologies for signaling, electrification, telecommunications, and traffic management.
Major Czech entities, including Škoda Group, AŽD, and Třinecké železárny, are positioned to participate in these regional developments. The mission follows previous diplomatic visits and seeks to transition high-level discussions into concrete projects involving Czech engineering, manufacturing, and innovative know-how.
