Czech tree removal regulations and potential fines

In the Czech Republic, property owners must adhere to specific regulations when removing trees, even on private land. While trees with a trunk circumference of less than 80 centimeters at a height of 130 centimeters above the ground generally do not require a permit, exceptions apply to tree lines and significant landscape elements.

Failing to obtain necessary permits for tree removal or damage can result in fines for individuals of up to 100,000 CZK. Additionally, timing is critical; tree removal is typically recommended during the vegetation dormancy period, which usually lasts from early November to the end of March. Performing such work in August is discouraged due to the presence of nesting birds and other environmental factors.
