Czech athletes win silver at Oklahoma City World Canoe Slalom Championships

The 2026 World Canoe Slalom Championships were held in Oklahoma City, USA, in July under hot conditions exceeding 35 °C. The event doubled as a qualifier for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

Czech competitors performed strongly: Jakub Krejčí and Kateřina Beková each earned silver medals in the kayak‑cross time‑trial, while Matyáš Novák finished fourth and Vít Přindiš eighth in the classic slalom. Jiří Prskavec, the 2020 Olympic champion, also raced among the fifteen Czech athletes present.

Poland fielded a ten‑person team. Dominika Brzeska placed 15th, Klaudia Zwolińska 16th, and Mateusz Polaczyk 28th. The championships were marked by strict officiating, notably the disqualification of France’s Angele Hug, who lost her gold medal for a starting infraction.
