Czech workers prioritize higher pay over workplace happiness, survey finds

A recent representative survey by the staffing agency Předvýběr.cz shows that 73 % of Czech employees report being happy at work, down from nearly 80 % in previous surveys. The study indicates that financial compensation has become the primary driver of satisfaction, with about 31 % of respondents rating a good salary as the most important factor, the highest level recorded since the survey began in 2019.

The survey also reveals strong support for a shorter work week, with roughly 85 % of workers favouring such a change, while enthusiasm for remote work appears to be waning, described as “now more a standard than a benefit.” František Boudný, director of the agency, said, “It is surprising because companies are trying to raise wages and improve conditions as much as they can.”
