Czechia and Sweden complete final EU Recovery and Resilience Facility requests

The Czech Republic and Sweden have reached significant milestones in utilizing the European Union’s Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) under the NextGenerationEU program.

Czechia has submitted its seventh and final payment request after fulfilling 38 additional milestones and targets. This request aims to secure the remaining 11% of its total 214.6 billion CZK allocation. Completed projects funded by the National Recovery Plan include energy efficiency initiatives, such as the Electrical Energy Data Center, and public transport modernization in Prague. Additionally, investments have supported 5G coverage for railway corridors, quantum optical infrastructure connecting Prague, Brno, and Ostrava, and the development of new university campuses for medicine and biotechnology.

Similarly, the European Commission has approved Sweden’s third and final payment request of 332.8 million EUR. Sweden is the second member state to complete 100% of its required reforms and investments under its national plan, totaling 3.45 billion EUR. Key areas of achievement include the ‘Industry Leap’ initiative for clean industrial transformation, energy efficiency renovations for multi-family buildings, and increased funding for higher education to address labor shortages.
