Slovakia warns of dairy sector risks amid EU budget concerns

In Slovakia, Agriculture Minister Richard Takáč addressed the European Dairy Association, warning of challenges facing the dairy sector. He highlighted rising production costs, a declining number of dairy cows, and competition from imports. Takáč expressed concern regarding the proposed EU budget for 2028, noting that decreased funding could threaten food security and the ability of farmers to cover direct payments.

In Central Europe, meteorological reports indicate a shift in weather patterns. After a period of mild autumn temperatures, a cold front is expected to bring cloudier skies, rain, and lower temperatures to parts of Czechia over the weekend. While some areas may experience ground frost, meteorologists suggest that stable high-pressure systems could eventually return warmer, clearer weather by early next week. However, an omega block pattern may cause temperature inversions and fog in lowlands, while southern Europe faces risks of heavy rainfall and flash floods.
