Czinger targets Mercedes-AMG One Nürburgring record

Los Angeles-based hypercar manufacturer Czinger has announced intentions to challenge the Mercedes-AMG One for the production-car lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. While no official date for an attempt has been set, CEO and co-founder Lukas Czinger confirmed that the company has already begun gathering data at the German circuit.

The Czinger 21C features a twin-turbo 2.9-liter V8 engine paired with three electric motors, producing a total of 1,250 horsepower. The company aims to build on its existing track performance, having already secured production-car records at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca and the Circuit of the Americas.

A formal attempt at the Nürburgring could be several months or even up to a year away, as the team may prioritize other tracks such as Silverstone or Indianapolis first. The current record at the Nürburgring is held by the Mercedes-AMG One, which completed the lap in 6 minutes and 29.090 seconds.
