Łęczyca referendum halted after signature rejection

A local referendum initiative in Łęczyca has been halted after the electoral commissioner rejected a significant portion of the collected signatures. Out of 1,140 signatures submitted, the commissioner validated only 821, falling short of the 1,022 required to meet the 10 percent threshold of eligible voters.

Common errors cited by the commissioner included missing town names in addresses, incorrect or incomplete PESEL numbers, and signatures from individuals not eligible to vote for the Łęczyca City Council. Because the deadline for collecting support has passed, the deficiencies cannot be rectified.

Marek Woch, representing the Bezpartyjni Samorządowcy, has expressed support for the referendum initiators and announced that legal counsel will analyze the decision to prepare an appeal to the Provincial Administrative Court in Łódź.
