D-8 Organization leverages Malaysia’s industrial experience for economic cooperation

The Developing-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation (D-8) Secretariat and Malaysia’s Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) held a high-level webinar to advance industrial cooperation among the nine member states. The event focused on leveraging Malaysia’s experience in industrial planning, investment attraction, and technology adoption to benefit the broader D-8 community.

D-8 Secretary-General Ambassador Sohail Mahmood noted the organization’s collective GDP exceeds US$5.19 trillion. To reach a target of US$500 billion in intra-D-8 trade by 2030, the organization identified three priority areas: technology and industrial transformation, investment and value-chain integration, and human capital development.
