D-8 Secretary-General and Turkish Industry Minister meet in Istanbul

Ambassador Sohail Mahmood, Secretary-General of the Developing-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation (D-8), met with Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Türkiye’s Minister of Industry and Technology, in Istanbul at the GITEX AI Türkiye event.

The discussion focused on advancing industrial and technological cooperation among the nine D-8 Member States, a key priority under the organization’s Decennial Roadmap 2020-2030. The leaders explored opportunities in advanced manufacturing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), TechnoParks, and industrial transformation.

Minister Kacır shared insights into Türkiye’s technology and innovation ecosystem, expressing support for the Secretariat’s efforts to increase industrial cooperation. Both parties emphasized the importance of connecting research and innovation ecosystems to foster competitiveness and technology-driven growth across the member nations.
