Dwango launches BEYOND BORDERs music project with Grimes and SatapanP

Dwango has launched ‘BEYOND BORDERs’, a joint Japanese-American music project designed to promote Vocaloid culture globally by connecting Japanese creators with Western artists. The initiative officially debuted with the release of the single ‘Miku-Maxxing’, a collaboration between Japanese Vocaloid producer SatapanP and Canadian artist Grimes, featuring the virtual singer Hatsune Miku.

The single serves as the first installment of the upcoming collaborative EP, ‘EMERGE M♡DE MIKU’, scheduled for release in September 2026. The EP features an international lineup of artists, including Odetari, George Clanton, Frost Children, slayr, and XAMIYA, alongside Japanese producers jon-YAKITORY and picco.

The accompanying music video utilizes a ‘Cyberland’ setting, employing low-poly visuals and mixed-media design to depict a digital world undergoing corruption and glitches. The project is supported by Nebula17, a Los Angeles-based music venture, to lead marketing and A&R strategies for the US market.
