Łódź Design Festival 2026 focuses on heritage and locality

The Łódź Design Festival is hosting the Polish Design Forum 2026: Locality in Łódź from October 8–11. The event focuses on locality as a modern resource, utilizing local materials, craftsmanship, history, and generational knowledge to inspire new products and services.

Key highlights include the “Wool. Local Sources and Potential” exhibition at the historic Karol Scheibler Power Plant, which explores the journey of wool from traditional craft to contemporary applications in design, construction, and art. Additionally, the “Strength of Heritage” conference will address the potential of regional traditions.

A central feature is the “Heritage of the Future” edition of the make me! international competition. From 212 entries, 38 projects by 33 designers were selected for an exhibition at Art_Inkubator. These works, ranging from furniture to ceramics, translate artisanal skill into functional modern products. A portion of these designs will be showcased at Barcelona Design Week in late October.
