Łódź implements free public transport for All Saints' Day
The Łódź City Council has passed a resolution to provide free public transportation on November 1 to coincide with All Saints' Day. The measure includes buses and trams operating within the city limits as well as lines extending beyond the city borders, facilitating travel to cemeteries in areas such as Gadka Stara and Rzgów.
Mayor Hanna Zdanowska stated that the initiative aims to prioritize visiting loved ones over concerns regarding tickets or parking. The policy is intended to encourage the use of collective transport to mitigate heavy traffic and parking shortages near necropolises. The city estimates that the loss in ticket revenue will be approximately 311,000 PLN by 2026.
