Łódź residents plant 40 trees to commemorate local births
In Łódź, parents of the city's youngest residents gathered on October 17 to plant 40 new trees in the 'Las Młodej Łodzi' (Young Łódź Forest). This marks the 13th edition of the initiative, which aims to combine family memories with environmental conservation.
Following local tradition, oaks are planted for boys and lindens for girls. Participants received certificates, and some chose to install personalized nameplates next to the saplings. The project, initiated by Vice President Małgorzata Moskwa-Wodnicka, seeks to promote pro-ecological attitudes and urban reforestation.
Since the program began in 2017, a total of 675 trees have been planted across various locations, including Uroczysko Lublinek and Las Łagiewnicki. The trees are intended to grow alongside the children, serving as a living memorial to their births.
