Łódź starts major Franciszkańska street overhaul as Małomicach prepares its first Orlik sports field

The city of Łódź has begun a comprehensive renovation of Franciszkańska Street, a key tram corridor linking the Bałuty district with the city centre. The project involves demolishing an old building at the Wolborska intersection, widening the road, adding a bike lane and a new high platform for trams. The work, costing 38.3 million złoty, includes extensive underground work and is scheduled for completion in the second half of 2027.

In the village of Małomicach, local authorities announced the construction of the first "Orlik" – a small‑scale sports facility – as part of a broader push to upgrade municipal infrastructure. The municipality also plans street reconstructions, a modernised school building, upgraded sewage treatment, and new traffic signals, funded partly by EU and national grants.
