Łódź to Demolish Former Pizza Hut Building for Green Public Space

The city of Łódź has taken ownership of the long‑abandoned building at Pasaz Rubinsteina that once housed a Pizza Hut, cafés and night‑clubs. The structure, now a ruin, will be demolished starting in August and the work is expected to finish before the end of the summer. City officials say the site will be turned into an open, green public space with new plantings, a playground and artistic installations that reference Łódź’s avant‑garde heritage. Existing trees will be preserved where possible, and the new square is planned to be ready by the summer of 2027.

Deputy mayor Adam Pustelnik emphasized that the redevelopment aims to improve the appearance of one of the city’s most representative areas and to provide residents with a vibrant, accessible environment.
